Kim Toscano & Friends: An Eclectic Blend Print

The St. Andrew's Bach Society and percussionist Kim Toscano invite you to attend something very special:  a concert featuring the premiere of American composer Tony Zilincik's   Circles of Magic and Dancing for Oboe and Percussion, the first composition ever commissioned by the St. Andrew's Bach Society .  Artistic Director Dr. Lindabeth Binkley and Tony attended Central Michigan University together many years ago and recently reconnected via Facebook.  After an evening of catching up on-line, an idea took shape to commission the writing of a new work for oboe and percussion with this particular concert in mind.  Tony was happy to oblige and what has evolved is a very unique and exotic work for both performers and audience.  Written specifically for Kim Toscano and oboist Dr. Lindabeth Binkley, they are excited to be presenting its world premiere  on August 30 (3:00 PM), 2009 at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church (2331 E. Adams St.) in Tucson, Arizona.

Kim is also offering a rare interactive opportunity to get inside the rhythmic world of percussion with this concert. Join her as she talks about the instruments, their function, and the music during the course of the performance.  She will be performing works primarily by prominent Icelandic composer  Áskell Másson, including a work for clarinet and darabouka with TSO Principal Clarinetist Dr. Jeremy Reynolds.

It will indeed be an eclectic blend and likely one of the most talked about concerts of the series.  Do not miss this Grand Finale of the 2009 Summer Concert Series!
