Swara Sonora Trio Print

The young and forward-thinking Swara Sonora Trio, based in Tucson, Arizona, changes audience expectations by revitalizing chamber music with a mix of newly commissioned works and known treasures of the repertoire.

The trio engages audiences by uniting different artistic disciplines and exploring multi-cultural themes. With a goal of infusing the repertoire with innovative new music, the trio commissions works from up-and-coming young composers.

The Swara Sonora Trio's international perspective was inspired by the commission of a new work, "Love & Variations" by prominent Indonesian composer Ananda Sukarlan. The trio’s name comes from the Indonesian word Swara (sounds) and the name of the Sonoran Desert which inspires us.

Pianist Aryo Wicaksono, soprano Kathryn Mueller, and baritone Nathan Krueger have been teaching and performing together for five years. The trio will make its international debut with an Asian concert tour in August 2009; this “Peace Tour” will raise funds for UNICEF and foster international collaboration between musicians.

The Swara Sonora Trio will be performing on Sunday, July 19 (3:00 PM) on the St. Andrew's Bach Society 2009 Summer Concert Series held at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church (2331 E. Adams St.).
